The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation

The AI Education Project is proud to announce that we are the recipients of a $200,000 grant from The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation as part of a push to drive digital equity across America.

The unrestricted grant will be used to fund the development and deployment pilots of the newest version of AIEDU’s curriculum in K12 schools in Ohio, Florida, Nevada, California, and Washington, D.C. (among other states), and will help us demonstrate district-wide scalability ahead of the 2022–2023 school year.

“This investment from PJMF demonstrates that The AI Education Project is now an important part of America’s vibrant ecosystem of STEM education and workforce readiness civil society organizations,” said Alex Kotran, Co-Founder & CEO of AIEDU. “We’re thrilled by the Foundation’s support for our approach to bringing AI exploration to underserved and underrepresented students across the United States, and look forward to tackling new and exciting challenges together in the year ahead.”

The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation is a ‘21st century philanthropy’ committed to bridging the frontiers of artificial intelligence, data science, and social impact. The Foundation is the legacy of IDG founder Patrick J. McGovern, who often said, “The best is yet to come.” He recognized the potential for information technology and neuroscience to democratize access to knowledge, improve the human condition, and advance social good. A generation of rapid advances in technology have led us to new possibilities at the intersection of information technology and neuroscience — artificial intelligence and data science. The promise of AI and data science represent the future Patrick J. McGovern always envisioned. With his optimism about what is possible, the Foundation invests in the exploration, enhancement, and development of AI and data science for good.
